The Philippines has more than 7,000 islands, and our places to stay are on some of the best known: El Nido and Coron in Palawan, with their limestone cliffs, lagoons and wrecks; Boracay, famous for White Beach; and Bohol, home of the Chocolate Hills, tarsiers and quiet beaches.

Planning your trip

Seasons

The dry season runs roughly from December to May, with the hottest months in April and May. June to November brings the south-west monsoon and the risk of typhoons, especially from August to October, which can disrupt boats and flights.

Getting around

Most trips start in Manila or Cebu, with domestic flights to Busuanga (for Coron), El Nido or Puerto Princesa, Caticlan or Kalibo (for Boracay) and Panglao (for Bohol). Ferries link many islands, including Coron and El Nido, and Cebu and Bohol.

Before you book

Entry rules, including the eTravel arrival registration, change from time to time. Check the latest UK government travel advice (gov.uk) or your own government's guidance before you travel.

Questions about staying in Philippines

Should I choose El Nido or Coron?

El Nido is known for lagoons, beaches and limestone cliffs; Coron for lakes, hot springs and Second World War wreck diving. Ferries link the two, so many people visit both.

What is the best time to visit?

December to May is usually driest. The rainy season, roughly June to November, can bring typhoons that affect boats and flights.

Do I need cash?

Yes, especially on smaller islands. ATMs can run out at busy times, so carry enough Philippine pesos.
