Where to stay on Koh Mook

Koh Mook is a small, green island in the Trang group, best known for the Emerald Cave: a swim through a dark sea cave that opens into a hidden lagoon enclosed by cliffs. Beyond that, it's a laid-back place of fishing villages, rubber trees and simple beach bungalows.

Most visitors split between Charlie Beach (also called Farang Beach) on the west coast, with its sunsets and beach bars, and the village side around Hua Laem Prao on the east, where the boats arrive. The places we list are in both.

Koh Mook, area by area

The island is small: a 20 to 30 minute walk, or a short motorbike taxi ride, separates the village from Charlie Beach.

Charlie Beach and the west

Best for sunsets and beach days

Charlie Beach is Koh Mook's main beach: a sweep of sand on the west coast with clear water, a few beach bars and some of the best sunsets in the Trang islands. Longtails to the Emerald Cave leave from here and from the village.

Hua Laem Prao and the village

Best for local life and easy arrivals

On the east side, the Muslim fishing village around Hua Laem Prao has the pier, small shops, seafood restaurants and a relaxed local feel. Staying here is often better value, and Charlie Beach is a short ride away.
